A Little Weather Talk......

Today is the annual AMS "What Will the Winter Be Like" conference at OMSI. AKA weather geek convention. Since I'm not able to get away from work to hang out with fellow weather nerds this morning I thought I would make my first weather post. A little light rain this morning opens the door for a progressively stronger sequence of storms coming through every few days over the next week: Saturday, Monday and another one on Wednesday into Thursday. I'm keeping an eye on the Monday system as some computer models are tinkering with the outside chance of some pretty decent winds.

These storms will get the mountain snowpack going but it's going to be a very close call as to whether or not the ski resorts have enough snow to open by Thanksgiving. Work wise we always hope for a massive mountain snowstorm around Thanksgiving time to help out with tire chain sales. Yes, holiday travel misery is our gain! Not sure if the pattern will cooperate for that this year, but right now it does look we will be on the cool side here in the lowlands Thanksgiving week.

Cold air is building way up north, as is typical for this time of year, but no signs of having to break out a special TeagueCast yet. In my winter outlook I have December pegged as a good possibility for a cold spell so hopefully I'll have something to freak out about then with yes, a patented TeagueCast! Until then, enjoy the rain and raking up the mushy leaves. Or if you're like me, hope for a windstorm to blow the leaves into a neighbor's yard.

I'm STUNNED you didn't use a work related excuse to go see your buddies Mark Nelson and Matt Zafino. I thought you were a bit more dedicated to your craft. Apparently I was wrong.

Does the Eastern Outpost need to think about shutting down the weather watcher station as well this year??

If my boss wasn't handing out days off like Halloween candy to my co-workers I would have been over there signing autographs.

Eastern Outpost needs to make sure the batteries are fresh in the weather station. Consider yourself on Condition 2 standby until further notice.
