TeagueCast!!!

Before getting into the TeagueCast I see a weather question about freezing fog in the comments - woohoo!

Freezing fog occurs when the air temperature is cold enough to freeze the water vapor that the fog is composed of to surfaces. When the temperatures get a little further below 32 degrees with fog, the suspended water vapor can freeze to nuclei in the air, such as pollution particles, then it looks more like powdery snow as it descends from low levels. My personal term for this is snizzle. Our snizzle yesterday was from a marine push of air over the top of low level cold fog. Clear and sunny on Mt. Hood but snizzle down low! Snizzle unfortunately does not help sell tire chains :-(

As for the TeagueCast.......chugga, chugga....choo! choo! It's arctic express time, well modified arctic express time, with a cold push of air set to come down from the north on sunday. If it pushes through fast enough we might even see a few snow showers. Then pretty cold weather to start the week with lows in the low 20's or upper teens and highs around freezing for a few days. No snizzle though, sunny and with a cold east wind in some areas.

The longer range offers some other possibilities, but I'll wait for a few more model runs before I get too hyper. Think snow!!

Oh, Thank you so much for the lesson...I like the term snizzle better. That was fun! I was having flashbacks to my 200 level science classes that I took at WOU when you mentioned "nuclei". Thanks again! Hoolia

I'm starting to get nervous. We're slowly running out of time for snow.

Computer models are going crazy for later next week, so I'll have to dust off the crystal ball and see what is says. Right now it's looking white.
