How did THAT get there?????

So I'm running on the treadmill at lunch today. Although there are 12 plasmas hanging from the ceiling, it was a real travesty that none of them were tuned to my usual Montel Williams or Tyra Banks show. How was I going to make it through the workout without my daily trashy TV fix? So I'm scrolling through my iPod looking for a fast-paced song to get me through. A lot of my songs aren't identified with the title, but simply "Track 8" so I'm flipping through quite a lot upon hearing just a few seconds of each song (and quickly discarding those too slow or of the Christmas variety).

Eventually, I land on a song which aims to be a Boy Band song, if the beginning is any indication, and I'm thinking, "When the hell did I download N'Sync?" I'm convinced it must be one of the freebies you get when you first sign up on iTunes and decided to let it play out, as at least the song was upbeat. Was I correct in my initial assumption of N'Sync? Not entirely. The lyrics begin ("Girl, you know that there's one thing that I love, but it's not you I'm thinking of; I want the Ultimate Cheese Burger...") and I'm sent on a historical journey from the early part of the century when a Jack in the Box commercial introduced an immediate favorite: The Meaty Cheesy Boys. Who remembers this commercial? It's a parody of a Boy Band video and the lyrics contain wonderful and priceless lines such as "I'd be so broke up if we broke up, but this burger is bigger than our relationship." This commercial was such a fave of both Teague and myself that I was able to present him a full CD of Meaty Cheesy Boys greatest hits for a birthday gift, thanks to a most generous donation from Eric, who received such a CD from her former employer....Jack himself.

This song instantly brought the hugest smile to my face ("Cheese, Meat, Cheese, Cheese, Meat and that's it...") and I could not help but sing along....not once, but twice. This song is too great not to immediately replay it ("Baby you know it's hot and juicy, 'cuz Jack won't make it until you order it"). It greatly helped the workout whiz by while visions of this commercial danced in front of me.

A most fun Friday surprise. Who has this kind of song on their iPod??? Only the lucky, that's for sure. Thank you again, Eric, for this CD. I don't know how I knew you had it or why we were talking about my love for the song & video/commercial, but you just can't buy this stuff.

I'll leave you with this thought as you may contemplate ideas for dinner...."When I say meat, you say cheese. MEAT cheese MEAT cheese......"

-Sidenote: I don't have Flash Player, so I can't test this link, but PLEASE give it a try. Good times! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifUJ5--4tjI

Um, that's one of the funniest things I've read in a long time!! I do have a song called "Coke, Fry, Cheeseburger" on my iPod. Christian music has to get really creative when they rap.
