What snow?!

So Las Vegas and New Orleans can get snowstorms but Vancouver can't seem to muster more than a dusting. Bah Humbug! Last sunday the snow was just south of us and today just to the north. Quite remarkable differences with big snows still underway in northern Clark and Cowlitz Counties tonight, plus some spots to the southwest. Northern Washington is seeing a huge dumping of snow. Snow levels here gradually drop tonight and a few areas should pick up a coating over night with scattered snow showers lingering into the first half of thursday.

Looks like the colder air won't really settle back in until friday and models still suggest a good chance of a large weekend storm - starting saturday p.m.??? The exact placement of the low will determine snow vs. ice, so no predictions from me yet, but this puppy is packing a lot of moisture and the east winds (cold air delivery) will be howling. KPTV is showing heavy snow for saturday and I haven't had a chance to see what others are predicting.

Christmas time is not real clear on the models yet. Some versions hint at a transition to milder weather in time for Santa while other versions show the potential for a Christmas Eve ice storm.
This pattern should probably break down next week, but top secret long range weather models suggest January will be interesting in the West.

Dear Santa, you can save the ice until January, unless it's ice cream.
