Another broken thing!

Did I mention I broke my bike? So feisty about it, which is why I can only calm down enough to talk about it 2 weeks later. So a few weeks back I started my intense training program for the 1/2 marathon I'm doing in mid-October. It has me working out 6 days out of 7 each week (and wouldn't you know that the one day off from working out is the day of my weekly soccer games??? Oh well, I can rest after the race). Anyway, after 2 years of non-use, it was time to pump up the ol' bike tires and use that for my "non-impact cardio" workout. I had even recently purchased a bike helmet, to reiterate to Maddox how important it is to always wear one during bike riding. As I'm heading out, Teague mentions that the tires still look a little low. I'm ready to go and don't want to inflate (again for the 2nd day in a row!), but figure it's not a bad idea to make sure. As I finish pumping up the 2nd tire (manually, mind you; why didn't I use the air compressor?), I realize I can't get the pump off the valve. I'm pulling and pulling (getting more frustrated with each tug....obviously) I pull the entire valve off the bike. UGH!!!! I'm so bike illiterate, I don't even know how to explain, let alone identify, what I've done and how I need it fixed. But alas, I've got 5 weeks of non-impact cardio left to do and something has to be done.

So today I get to run the bike over to the repair shop. As I loaded it in the car, I notice the front tire was flat again as well. At this point I'm assuming there are leaks in both tires. The repair shop had told me yesterday that they'll get it back to me "in a day or two....whenever we get around to it". Seriously? What would any of my former supervisor's thought if I had given that answer to the myriad of deadlines imposed each day? These guys would NEVER make it in Corporate America!

I'll keep you posted. I know, such exciting stuff, right?
