The Next Step

So Teague & I met with the Breast Surgeon. She gathered history info & I filled out a ton of forms, but the bottom line is that I need surgery & chemo for sure. My very next step is an MRI scheduled for Tuesday to get the extent of what stage it is (either Stage 2 or 3) and what the best option is. The decision is mine, but that responsibility is not something I'm super comfortable with.

Choices:

lumpectomy: remove the tumor only (depending on size info from the MRI) AFTER 6 rounds of chemo to shrink the tumor

mastectomy: remove the entire breast and have the 6 rounds of chemo afterward

I've also got an ultrasound scheduled for next week & possible biopsy on a lymph node that may be affected. By Monday the 14th, the decisions will be made and the surgery scheduled to take place potentially within the following 2 weeks. Happy Thanksgiving!
