Whirlwind Week - Monday

Today marked the beginning of a pretty busy week for me. Although most of the things I needed to do didn’t take a lot of time, it’s more than a little annoying how many appointments I’ve been going to. Is there no way to combine this into 1 long day so I don’t have to ask people (and by people, I mean family) to watch the kids 4 different days/times this week? Guess not.

Today’s appointment was an echocardiograph (sp?) which was basically an ultrasound of my heart. Although I wasn’t specifically told of the purpose of this test, I surmised that it was to ensure my heart is physically equipped and strong enough to handle the chemo treatment that I’m hoping to start this week. This test was done at my oncologist’s office, but I only talked to the tech and received no other information about anything. Painless and easy which was a relief because I’m really nervous on when someone is going to tap into my port for the first time. I’m still pretty grossed out by that whole thing, but everyone tells me it’s a huge blessing to have. We’ll see…..

As far as how my recovery is going from the prior week’s surgery, the soreness is going away and my neck/back isn’t as kinked up as it had been so I was able to resume my normal motherly duties and didn’t even have to yell at the boys to get us all out the door this morning. A victory indeed!
