Taking Advantage

OK, so there aren't very many perks to having cancer, but I assure you there are some. Case in point, from a fellow survivor's blog I learned about the website www.cleaningforareason.org which is a fantastic foundation that raises money and partners with various local housekeeping companies to provide 4 free housecleanings (one every 4 weeks) to those going through chemo. Um, took me about 44 seconds to jump on it. So last Thursday was my first cleaning and they were so wonderful, especially to a certain chatty 6 year old who felt the need to share everything he got for Christmas. The best part? My toilets have never looked cleaner!!! We have nasty water up here in the 'Couve resulting in ugly residue that I've tried for years to rectify only to have the mixed cleaners cause even more discoloration. Can I just say that all 3 toilets are completely free of any residue whatsoever? I don't know how they did it and my only guess is that they painted the porcelin. Ask Teague, I'm in such awe over it that I can't wait to ask them exactly what they use. I also kinda want to invite everyone over just because they're looking that good! A little obsessed over it to be honest.

Another awesome thing about the company that came over (Maid to Shine NW, Inc., if you're looking for a referral, I'm happy to provide that plus their contact info): since I just heard about this service, I let them know that I only had 2 more treatments left so they would only be scheduling one more cleaning. My contact person said that because I qualified they would provide 4 cleanings no matter what. How precious is that?

One thing I want to point out to you readers: I'm not so weak that I cannot clean my own house. Some of you have offered to scrub my toilets for me, bring us meals, and do my laundry. At this point I am capable of keeping my household running. However, when there is a way for my life to be easier provided by those who feel good about helping someone going through chemo, I'll let that happen. Thus, the header on this blog post.

What's up next: Treatment #5 is scheduled for March 1st which is Day 1 of our new insurance which accepts all my doctors (Praising You Lord!) with my fave booster shot the next day

Things to pray for: my anemia is still a problem, which has me taking 3 iron pills a day. Please be praying for increased iron levels and that I will not have to have radiation therapy after my 1st surgery.

Thanks everyone!

If you ever find out their secret...let me know! Hours with a pumice stone is the only thing that worked for me. But...they went back to ugliness. I think I'm just going to buy new toilets and start from scratch.:-)
