Christmas Meltdown

Christmas Meltdown

Not my thing.

Sunday was the day we selected to get all the Christmas decorations out and trim the tree.  Ugh.  I abhor decorating.  Is it because I'm not any good at it?  Is it because we have too many totes filled with 'stuff'?  Is it because I haven't a clue what I'm doing?  Yes, yes & yes.  Regardless, I love to see a decorated space and the house is not going to decorate itself.

I started pulling out totes as soon as the kids & I got home from church.  It seemed that every tote I opened had the same things inside.  Tons of ornaments, a bunch of which we haven't used in years.  It  appears we needed to better organize & purge as well.  Yay.

The first thing I did was pull up the Christmas photos from last year where my fabulous & incredibly talented mother-in-law & sis-in-law blessed us by decorating our (then) new house and tree for us.  It was awesome and I had taken photos to remember the scenes so I could re-create them this year.  I'll admit I used some of their ideas!

The boys were given these 3ft porch-looking trees to decorate and have in their rooms.  It is adorable to see what they choose to use.  Teague even caught Maddox sitting on his knees just staring at his tree in awe.

9 hours later I was finishing up with our decor and weekly cleaning.  9 HOURS!!!  This was a pretty long and un-fun day, but I'm looking forward to seeing these festive adornments for the next month,  I also love the fact that my label maker and organizational efforts today will (hopefully) make the tear-down much easier.  It's also very nice to have a Christmas task checked off the list.

Merry Christmas!
