Randoms

Today I'm just going to blog on some random things going on in our lives.  Bear with me during the scattery-ness of it all.

I'm having a hard time letting go of the sun, but can't be too upset considering we seemed to have gotten an entire extra month of sunny, warm weather.

I've begun helping out in the boys' class each week.  Presley always loves to be part of the fun, but she has grown increasingly loud, vocal, opinionated, & bossy these days so when she wants to do something (or NOT do something as what seems to be the trend) she can turn into fit mode within about 0.5 seconds.  I had to drag her literally kicking and screaming out of Maddox's zen-like classroom a few weeks back.  It was mortifying!  Luckily, she was waaaaay better in Dylan's class last week.

The boys are playing basketball.  They seem to like it, but I can't yet tell how much.  Dylan's age group is always throwing up impressive numbers and he's made a basket in 2/3 of his games so far.  It's pretty impressive considering he's THE smallest kids on the court....boy or girl.  Maddox continues to be monster on defense and they both are great at dribbling and passing.  I'm hopeful they will feel more confident to take shots themselves instead of passing to others as much.  They could use a little more aggression.  I love watching them play.

Teague and I got to sneak out of town last weekend for a quick trip to Powell Butte and witness the nuptials of my cousin, Brent, and his new bride, Kait.  The wedding was decadent and fun and I enjoyed spending time with Natane, Matt, Uncles Ben & Jim, Aunt Shirley, Michele, Ted & my husband.  The drinks were flowing (Moscow Mules!) and everyone indulged on the family-style feast until the real entertainment began.....the dancing.  How fun was it to see my baby cousin tearing it up on the dance floor!??  I'm so excited for him and Kait as they start their new future and family together.  Congrats!

Grandpa Ed had an unexpected disc surgery on his back, but has had an amazing recovery with zero pain.  How is that even possible?  We are so blessed to have him on the mend and pray he continues to gain strength everyday.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Dylan is turning 7 at the end of the month.  I am organizing a class party for him on his birthday and a family dessert the evening before.  It seems too early for him to be turning 7, it sounds so old.  He is the most challenging child to shop for and when asked for birthday hints, he rattles off a long list of play weaponry.  At least I hope it's play.  My fave item on the list: a staff like Moses.  What kid asks for that?

For Halloween the children finally have their costumes.  Maddox is dressing as Dash from Disney's "The Incredibles."  Dylan has elected to be Night Shift from the Skylanders video game.  Presley wants to be Rapunzel.  I'm hopeful the weather holds out.  I'd love it to be warm like the past 2 years, but I'll settle for dry.

That's about it around here!
