The Core 4 is a group that was brought together by a now bankrupt video company, but each of the former employees have thrived since their escape from that institution. Though originally starting out with only 4 members: Anger, Buddy, Eric, and Lisa Option (their names have been created over time to protect their privacy), the offspring are numbering an additional 7 members (2 of which are to arrive in '08). Will we need a new group name for the 11 members or will more offspring be in the future? None from me, that's for sure!
I am grateful for this group as they are a fabulous panel for advice, pop culture review, venting, and emotional support throughout life's toughest blows (deaths, breakups, job loss, relocations, etc.). If you know these women, you are truly blessed. All right, enough sap!!
Yesterday was our annual Core 4 Christmas gathering. To celebrate the holiday each year, we like to meet at Wu's Open Kitchen which I believe to be the best chinese food ever. This pic shows all members (including those gestating--such cute mommies!) except for Anger (the photographer). Despite the many children present, we had a surprisingly calm and enjoyable time. Hard to believe, but we like to think of it as a Christmas miracle.
The only tradition that was missing during the lunch festivities was the presence of each founding member to participate in Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. This fond memory is a favorite, but with the upcoming holiday approaching so fast, the Core was ill-prepared and had to settle for cheesy Christmas pins and earrings instead.

I second everything - Core 4 is the best - somewhat like "Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants" minus the ugly jeans and amazing trip to Greece. Anyway, cheers to the Core at Christmas and little Core-ettes on the way!! And is Olivia giving Samuel a flirty face or what?
So I finally opened a blog account so I can comment on these! Hear hear on the amazing Core 4 gathering...truly a nod to peace on earth and good will toward men (mainly the other patrons at Wu's). As always, love seeing my friends and catching up on life....oh and talking to other adults, which is at a premium these days! Yes, Olivia is a flirt - what can I say, she's her father's daughter :-)
New new nickname for you girls eh? Well, can't think of anything will eleven in it right now, but with all those kids, I think you should be known as:
The Boobs To The Floor Four.
Kind of catchy if you ask me.
