Finally, it looks like we'll see a significant change in the weather pattern by next weekend as the blocking ridge of high pressure (aka The Grinch for tire chain sales people) retrogrades out into the Pacific Ocean. Very cold arctic air has built into Canada and continues to do so via cross polar flow, while an intense polar vortex hangs out in Siberia.
