Fun Stuff!

Enough of the serious talk, what's going on with the kids???

Maddox has one more day of school, and by 1 more day I mean 2 hours tomorrow.  His last t-ball game was last night and we celebrated with the team at Boppin' Bo's for ice cream sundaes.  I must say that Presley was the most impressed out of everyone with the desserts.  Maddox has been amazing this year and enjoyed Doughnuts with Dads this morning with Teague.  Maddox also got the 1st Grade teacher I was hoping for and I am excited to spend some time with him this summer; with those full days of school it sometimes felt like I never saw him.  I took the training wheels off his bike last weekend and within an hour he was riding on concrete needing zero assistance from me.  Although he needs a lot of practice to gain confidence, I was pleased that he adapted so well.  We will be spending the summer at the park, practicing soccer, practicing catch, and perfecting his bike riding skills, with maybe a little tennis sprinkled in.  I was told that I'm unable to play tennis for a few months, but Daddy has offered to take Maddox since he's been asking to hit the courts a lot.

Dylan is done with his first year of preschool.  He will go for another year before jumping into Kindergarten.  He is looking forward to soccer beginning later this month and asks everyday if he has practice yet.  Since I discovered he can write his own name, I will no longer be taking it easy on him and he'll be doing summer workbook pages right along with Maddox each weekday.  I've signed him up for free bowling and a library reading program so he's got some fun things to look forward to.  I know he'll be happy to have Maddox home to pal around with and we look forward to the park as well.  I also took his training wheels off last weekend.  He was able to go a decent distance, but he prefers to be on the grass (he does a lot of falling and getting tangled in his bike as a result) and often forgets to keep pedaling, but he is excited to keep trying.  I love his attitude when it comes to learning a new physical skill.

Presley has been very busy lately. She is crawling everywhere and it's usually to follow her brothers (who see her coming, scream like little girls and run away). She is content to play by herself as long as that's where everyone else is as well. Presley's cute trick is crawling quickly to the cable remote, pushing some buttons, then glances over to the TV to check if it has turned on. Where could she possibly have learned that??!! She's been eating like a little champ and I'm hoping this will be my good eater (I've certainly paid my dues!). She only has 1 tooth, but will guilt anyone into sharing their food with her without shame. I've learned she does not like sitting on or feeling grass, and will crawl along the edges of a blanket to determine her boundaries so as to avoid touching the yard and it makes me cautiously optimistic that she'll stay in one spot during our trips to the park. That being said, she loves to be outside watching everything around her. I hope her birthday allows us to celebrate at a nearby park. She has been an absolute angel and I wouldn't have enjoyed this last year without her nearly as much!!!
