Loving this Bible teaching!

So this Fall my women's group at church is taking 6 weeks to discover our God-given spiritual gifts.  The book of Romans tells us that God has bestowed 7 Spiritual Gifts to us and some giftings are more prevalent than others.  We all took an extensive personality test to determine what our top giftings are and I'm so excited about it.  Based on the book "Discover Your God-Given Gifts" by Don & Katie Fortune, we are discovering what we think, why we act the way we do and how our particular gifts affect our relationships with others.  While we are only taking this time to complete the test and not go through the Biblical handbook in its entirety, I'm interested enough to continue learning more such as what career or ministry suits me best and how using my specific gifts will bring me joy in all aspects of my life.

One theme that has been emphasized is that everyone generally scores predominantly in 3 top categories which keeps us all unique from being simply 7 types of people.  The 7 types of people are: 1) the teacher, 2) the perceiver, 3) the exhorter (encourager), 4) the administrator, 5) compassion, 6) the server, and 7) the giver.  I'll admit that I went into this assessment with my top 3 already in my mind, but the test showed that I was made for different things than I previously thought and that I can be more joyous shifting my focus elsewhere.  The top 3 are mannerisms that come easy to us, make perfect sense, and feel like 2nd nature.

I had thought my top 3 would be: 1) Administrator (duh, who loves scheduling and organizing more than me!?), 2) Perceiver, and maybe 3) Compassion.  As it turns out, neither Administrator nor Compassion were in my top 3!  Threw me for a loop, but once our speaker listed the characteristics of each gifting, it was eye-opening to see where I naturally drift or how God specifically designed me and wanted me to share His glory.

Now I just need to figure out what I'm going to do with these gifts!

I'd love to talk with you about it and help you figure out what your giftings are :)
