Another Monday off

Yes, the boys are off for another Monday.  They actually had Friday off as well as it is designated Presidents Day Weekend.  I will say that the kids have really gotten into presidents this last week (thank you goes to an educational placemat showing all 44 presidents names and faces) and like to ask me questions about their favorites.  Keep in mind that my History teacher sucked so I know very little about American History (No Child Left Behind....not a great idea).  Dylan has some definite ideas about Obama and the bad choices he has made, but the blame for that goes right in my lap.  Regardless, although it seems like just another day off, we've actually been talking more about presidents in the last month than ever before.

Last Monday, however, was a different story entirely.  Last week we still had probably 6 inches of snow on the ground, but it was starting to melt.  We had just come off a fabulously powdery and cold, yet ridiculously fun weekend filled with countless trips down the hilly streets in sleds, snowboards, shovels, even cardboard boxes, many cups of hot chocolate, cancelled weekend activities and loads of extra laundry.  We all had a blast as the neighborhood filled with children and Olympic hopefuls.  Everyone took to the slopes, even poor Daddy who had to work everyday, raced head first from the top of 13th Street, down 91st, and landed on 14th Street.  It was a joy to watch everyone experience a true winter snowfall.  Of course others in the area complained of the climates duration and conditions, but I loved every second of it.
