August 2017 Recap

August 2017 was a super sunny month and we tried to fill it with some fun memories as the summer winds down.

I had a lunch date with this handsome man while we participated in a medical study at OHSU.  It's nice to get to spend one-on-one time with the kids once in awhile.

I had a chance to meet up with some friends I worked with years ago.

Here's an annual pic with my Aunt Shirley and cousins from the annual Olson BBQ

While Presley spend a few nights with her cousin, I took the boys to the Clackamas Aquatic Park. It was Dylan's first experience with water slides and he loved it.  We stayed there 'til the bitter end.

I decided to take some photos of Blu P and put it on Craiglist to see how long it would take to sell it.  Turns out, it only took 45 seconds.  So I spent my last day of my vacation selling one Pilot and purchasing another.  Big shout out to Teague for taking a 1/2 day to shuttle me around and helping me get a new car.....which I love.  Suddenly, I'm volunteering to drive on all the errands!

Mid-August brings Presley's birthday.  Here's a pic of the task and supply list that she made.  Looked pretty similar to mine.

Presley reached a huge milestone the week before her birthday....she can now ride a bike without training wheels!  She wasn't very motivated so I upped the ante by telling her she can get her ears pierced if she could ride a lap around the park without stopping.  That was her currency.  Here she is getting the piercing which freaked her out a bit.  There were some unshed tears in her eyes, but she held it together.  By the time we got home and she started watching TV, she quickly forgot about all the pain.

August 21st brought the solar eclipse to the valley area.  Here are my works peeps in their solar glasses enjoying the rare event.

The kids were at Grandma's watching the eclipse on TV and celebrating with special Eclipse cookies that Grandma made.

Later that week the boys headed to the barber shop to get their Back To School haircuts.  They looked great....except for these 'in process' pics.

One thing I didn't get a specific picture of is Maddox beginning his position of Co-Team Manager for the girls' 6th-8th Grade Cross Country Team.  He runs right along with them and comes in first from their 3-mile long runs.  Who knew???  He loves it.

Here's the cuties on the first day of school.
Maddox, beginning his 6th grade year, headed off to Middle School.  The bus stops right at the house, but can't seem to do so in a timely manner, so he was late to 1st period the first 2 days.

Dylan is beginning his 4th grade year.  He is in a blended class (2 teachers and 50 kids at the same time) with most of his friends and his girlfriend.  He loves it.

Presley is starting 1st grade and seems to enjoy it as well; especially the candy treats.

He loves to tell me he's the most popular kid in class.

Here's Presley sucking up to her teacher by giving her an apple.

There were some other fun things I didn't get pictures of, only video.  Until I can figure out how to upload video, you'll have to settle on the fact that we also had a trip with Auntie Michele and Kaitlyn to Cottonwood Beach where it was beautiful, hot & sunny.  I headed back to work for the school year and the kids joined me there as a way of babysitting.  Also, the littles had their annual "Auntie Celle & Briar Day" at the park and the movies with a pizza party.  Maddox went to his 6th grade Orientation where there were no parents allowed and at his school BBQ he got to dunk his coach.

September should be pretty calm as we settle into the school year routine.  See ya next month!
