June 2019 - School's Out for the Summer!

How excited am I?  This is my absolute FAVORITE time of the year and I am naming 2019 as the "Summer of Mellow."  Those of you that know me well are laughing out loud right now, but I do love a challenge and I think being mellow is a challenge worth trying my best at.

The month of June was busy, as usual.  The overall theme seemed to be "the ending."  Dylan and Presley had their last days at Marrion Elementary and sports seasons were also coming to a close.  I really wish I could show you some awesome videos that I took over the month.  Here's what we were up to in June:

Here's Maddox (black hoodie on his head) and his bestie, Ayden, with their Youth Group at Real Life Church.  This month Dylan gets to join in the middle school fun as well.

Here he is helping out a future gamer.

Presley got to hang with Grandma on her own sometimes.  On this day they were playing 'dress up.'

Here's a few pics of Presley in her classroom.  She absolutely loved her teacher and would have him again next fall IF I hadn't requested a boundary exception to the elementary school next door to where I work.  Like Dylan, Presley will also be attending a new school next year where she doesn't know ANYONE.  Having her start in 3rd grade at Illahee Elementary instead helps our family in a number of ways, but it will help with the middle school transition in a few years.  We all have no doubt she will charm everyone with her amazing personality.

Presley and I were invited to watch Asher in his hip-hop performance with Presley's old dance studio.  It was a lot of fun going to the theatre with our friends.

  "Newsies"

One of the first summer-y things we did was meet our besties at Skyzone one morning.  If the weather was nicer we were planning on going to Alderbrook, but this was a fun substitute.

This guy saw a bunch of baseball in June.  Although he only played catcher maybe twice, I loved watching him in that role.

All the 5th grade students had to do a PE Final Project Fitness Poster....guess who got 1st place????  I hope this is a glimpse of future victories to come in school projects.

We hit the Marrion Carnival on a super hot day.  Dylan got to dunk his PE teacher which he loved and drank a ton of soda.

Presley at the cake walk...which neither of us ever won.

  Collecting her many treasures

Dylan's Baseball Party was held on an 80 degree day and wouldn't you know....his teammate has an amazing pool!  Maddox had practice he didn't want to miss so it was just me, Dylan and Presley swimming the evening away.  It was absolutely perfect!!

There was even a diving board which Dylan was flipping off of by the end of the party and Presley was jumping from as well.

I took the day off to join Dylan and all his little friends I've known since Kindergarten for the 5th Grade Celebration.  Each child in his class read a poem about the end of the year and received an award voted on by the classmates.  Afterward was a BBQ and a 5th Grade v Staff Kickball Game.  Because Dylan is President, he was the pitcher.  Truth is he'd be the best candidate to pitch anyway.

This was the award Dylan was voted by the class.

Dylan's teacher made these wonderful posters for every student.

Then we were at the last day of school.  Dylan loved his teacher as well.  The girl on the right?  Dylan's girlfriend.....at least this month!

Father's Day was great weather and the one thing Teague wanted to do that day was practice baseball with Dylan.  The rest of us helped out as well and it was discovered that Presley has some talent for baseball and Maddox wasn't too rusty either.

Maddox was given an opportunity to visit Enchanted Forest with his 2nd family.  He had a great time.

Presley's Hangtime choice was lunch at Red Robin which we enjoyed while the boys were at an all-day basketball camp.

At the end of the month (and into the beginning of July) we cheered on our favorite baseball player at the Little League All Star Tournament.  The first game was a very bad loss, but tonight we're trying our best to stay alive.  Let's go #31!

That's it for June!  I'll try and remember to take more pics so you can see a day in the life of the Rakoz Family.  I get all of July off so I'm hopeful to be victorious in the Summer of Mellow!  I'll let you know how I did in the next post.  'til then!
