August 2019

This month was all about cramming in as much summer fun as possible.  Here's how August went down.

We sent the boys off to church camp for 5 days (Star Wars themed!) where they participated in color wars, kitchen duty, free play at the river, dodge ball and overall camp mayhem.

Maddox was on the purple team

Dylan was on the green team with Ayden

Both boys absolutely loved the food

While they were out of town, Teague and I jumped a plane to Vegas for 5 days.  This pic shows me starting the day off with a big plate o' nachos. Apparently, 9am isn't too early for nachos!

This is where I spent 4 full days from about 9am - 6pm.  I got a lot of sun, drank a lot of margaritas and got a lot of reading done.  It was absolutely perfect!

Here's a pic of us enjoying a fave burger joint....I even broke my 10-year red meat fast for this burger.  Totally worth it.

Here's another plate from a fun restaurant called "Nacho Daddy."  Sooooo good!

We did a decent amount of walking at night.  The daytime temps were about 109 degrees and didn't seem to cool in the evening.  Definitely my kind of climate.

By the time we all got home from our respective vacations, there was only 2 days of summer break left for me.  Me and the Littles (Dylan and Presley) spent Monday with the Suva's at Lacamas Lake again.  It was so nice to be by the water.

I swear, Dylan was made to be around water!

Here's how I felt about being back in my office on August 7th

While I spent a workday in an air-conditioned building doing some training, Daddy took the kids to the Clark County Fair for some monster-sized corn dogs and Tuff Trucks.

We celebrated Presley's 8th birthday in the middle of the month.  She is growing up so fast.  She loves watching YouTube, riding bikes (especially her new birthday bike), fashion, lip gloss, squishies, and the color purple.  She is a great joy and we cherish her sweet personality.

The following week Dylan got to join me at work for his first experience as a Shahala Middle School student at the 6th Grade orientation.

We learned that one of Dylan's best buddies, Gunner, is also going to the same school.  Dylan and Gunner have been in the same class since Kindergarten.  I couldn't have picked a better person for Dylan to know at school.

Maddox was chosen as a WEB Leader for his school which means that he and his teammates are the leaders for the 6th grade orientation at his school.  He was responsible for welcoming 10 6th grade students and making sure those students felt comfortable and ready to start middle school.  I absolutely love seeing him in a leadership role.

After picking him up from his orientation, he had to hang with me for awhile at work.  I put him to work assembling my new office chair which kept him busy and accomplished something I wouldn't have a chance to get to for at least a month!

Here's some pics of a new family member: Briar's fiance Jake!  We are all so thrilled for these adorable lovebirds.

The day before school started, Presley got a chance to visit her new classroom and meet her new teacher, Mrs. Potts.

She had an amazing first day of school and really enjoyed it, despite not knowing anyone in her class.  I'm so proud of how brave she is being at this new adventure.

Here's Maddox's 1st day of 8th grade....yes he is now taller than me (sniff, sniff)

Here's the 3 Amigos that all head off to Shahala at 6:45am every morning.  I start right away, Dylan has 45 minutes to kill before his first class and Presley has 2.5 HOURS before school starts for her.  Funny enough, she doesn't mind spending the time hanging with her new friend, Eleanor, at Shahala before walking over to Illahee Elementary.

Presley's first day of 3rd grade.

P and D's first day of school!

That's about it for the month of August.  Hope this month treats you well.  I'm still clinging to the warm days of summer.  Long live the warm temps!
