Hi all! Here's what the Rakoz family was up to in October.
Basketball season has started and all 3 kids are playing.
Here's my girl about to play in her very 1st game.
She is strong on defense and keeps close to her opponent while her feet are moving constantly. She also manages to get at least one steal per game. She gets a couple of shots up each game and scored her first bucket in Game 5
Here are some fans supporting her 1st game.
When it was our turn for game snacks, I asked her to write encouraging messages to her teammates. I had no idea how much I would enjoy these bags!
Presley has also joined a lunch Book Club at school once a week. I love that she gets involved in extra curriculars.
Dylan's Hangtime pick found us enjoying pretzel sticks with beer cheese fondue and tots at McMenamins on the Columbia River. I love this one-on-one time with this sweetie & he loves getting to pick tasty places to eat.
Dylan is having a great season. He continues to impress with his speed down the court and ball handling skills. I love watching him play and am already sad that he has to sit the winter season out for being too old.
Here's a fun pic of Maddox getting a haircut...loving the hair clip.
Dylan has joined me at Presley's practice to help out and it's adorable to see them both on the court.
Maddox and I had a Hangtime this month. It doesn't happen that often and I had to schedule it. I mean, what 13-year old boy doesn't want to spend a Saturday with his mama???!! We went to a Dutch Brothers that is an actual coffee house, rather than just a drive-up and were blown away by how awesome it is inside. Here's a pic of Maddox enjoying the swings.
For fear of spilling our drinks, we chose to lounge by the fireplace.
This month Presley was elected as one of the Student Council Representatives for her class. I think this is a good sign that she's fitting in well at her new school.
The PTO (parent/teacher organization) at my school treated the staff to a Popcorn Bar featuring goodies from Popcorn Cove one Friday. It was absolutely delish! I had some Cinnamon Toast, cheddar, and I even tried the jalapeno cheddar which was very good. It was quite the treat.
Dylan and I met our Besties (the Denbo's) at a free Haunted House nearby. We were surprised at the level this family goes through each year just out of pure love of Halloween. A new tradition has begun.
The last week of the month Shahala had Spirit Week and I couldn't have been more excited.
Monday: Pajama Day. Here's me and my friends, Cecilia and Lisa enjoying our comfy outfits
Tuesday: Twin Day. Me and Cecilia showing our friendship and love for scary movies all in one shirt!
Wednesday: Pink Out. I didn't get any pics of me or Dylan
Thursday: Halloween Costumes. No pics of this either, but more importantly, Thursday was Dylan's 12th Birthday! I had a few fun surprises for him, such as candy for him to pass out in all his classes.
I put his pic around birthday signs inside my office and the hallway.
I even grabbed him a MOD pizza and delivered it to the Commons during lunch.
Right before Trick-or-Treating he got to open his family presents, including this baby pinata.
He has been wanting NBA2020 & NBA jerseys for his birthday and seemed very excited with a special edition of the game and his Steve Nash and Vince Carter jerseys. He never asks for super elaborate gifts and is always gracious and thankful. I very much appreciate that about him.
Later on we went Trick-or-Treating with the Denbos where the kids got a ridiculous amount of candy (including 9 full-sized candy bars-what??!!) and ended up at a church-sponsored event where the boys attend Youth Group. It was great weather, a perfect Halloween and a wonderful birthday.
That's it for October! I'll add to this post with some actual Halloween pics of the family costumes when I have them saved.
Coming up in November: Dylan's family party, basketball season wrap-up, days off and the holiday season begins.
Bye!
