Hey everyone.....if I could sum up April 2020 in one photo, this would be it.
Not a whole lot going on for the Rakoz Family these days. We are beyond blessed to be healthy and I hope never to take that for granted. Here's a small taste of what life looks like around here.
I am in mourning over the lack of youth sports I'm usually running around town for....and the swag that goes along with it. One week I decided to wear a different t-shirt for the sports I cannot watch.
Unpictured: swag for Presley's Tumbling class and various Columbia Little League items for Dylan's baseball season.
She has also learned how to make pancakes by herself and prepares them every morning for all of us.
Grandma was missing something cute to look at in her driveway, so Presley drew some festive sidewalk chalk and hopeful messages.
Every other week or so we get Auntie Rhacelle and Briar to visit on a Saturday afternoon. This day was warm and nice, but we were careful to maintain our social distancing as we chatted.
Easter looked a bit different this year, but there were a lot of similarities as well. I still made the kids go to Church with me, but the service was online. We still had a fabulous homemade meal, but it was a breakfast menu. We still dyed, hid, and searched for Easter Eggs. We still talked about the meaning of Easter and the greatest sacrifice ever known, which no virus can diminish.
Maddox's school got their teachers together to send a message of hope out to their students.
One child activity I stole from friend was to have the kids do their own version of the show "Shark Tank." Here both Dylan and Presley came up with their ideas.
Those who know me well are not surprised that I do not enjoy cooking at all. On the way home from working at my school for a bit, I grabbed a catering-sized tray of Chick-Fil-A nuggets for us all to enjoy. It more than hit the spot.
I had been searching the internet for this (not-Lego-brand) lego set from my favorite show with little success....my neighborhood Target had it! I had a lot of fun putting it together and look forward to displaying it at my desk.....someday.
As there is little to look forward to while we wait for this pandemic to end, I decided that every Thursday night should be Movie Night at the Rakoz house. So long as their chores are done and their schoolwork is caught up, we start a classic (80's classic, that is) movie with snacks. It helps break up the monotony of our stay-at-home order and I look forward to it as much as they do.
Our first movie was "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure."
Literally, this is all we've been doing this month. It is entirely likely that May will be just as meager. Hope you are all healthy and well fed. Until next time!
