We seemed to finish out the school year with a few activities while we waited for the world to open back up.
One activity I instituted at the School of Rak was Spirit Week. Monday was designated as A Day at "The Office" which is our fave show.
Tuesday was Sports Day
Wednesday was School Spirit Day
I selected Wednesday for this as Maddox's school was having their neighborhood parade. Presley and I made posters and drew sidewalk chalk to welcome the staff of Wy'east as they were coming right by our house. Daddy even produced some vintage Warrior swag from his middle school days. We got to see a lot of favorite teachers.
We even got to see the Denbos
Thursday was Camo Day.
Friday was a Day at the Beach, but no one dressed up.
We've been spending time doing some baking.
Maddox has been rocking his Game Design class this trimester. I'm sad that he had to do this class from home during Distance Learning, but he earned lots of rewards/certificates and praise from his teacher. This is a calling for sure and I'm proud of how well he's doing.
Although none of the kids go to Marrion Elementary (our neighborhood school) anymore, the boys were there for all of their elementary years and Presley was there for 3 years as well. I logged in a lot of volunteer hours and PTA responsibilities so we all have a lot of fond memories of their beloved staff members. They also had a neighborhood parade that came right by our home and we made sure to wave as they drove by.
We finally got word that Presley's gym was opening back up and she could attend her weekly Tumbling class again. She is the only student in her class that is coming back to the class so she is getting all the attention. She was so sore after that first practice back.
Hair salons/barber shops are back open....so excited for my own hair to be done (5 months past due), Daddy's haircut (so I don't have to cut it anymore) and Maddox's haircut who looked the most shaggy of all!
As the end of the school year approached, we got a visit from Presley's teacher as she dropped off a gift bag. This means so much as Presley is 5+ miles outside of her school's boundary and this was probably well out of her way. Ms Potts was an amazing teacher and I'm grateful to her for taking such great care of Presley at her new school and helping to navigate Distance Learning. I sure wish Presley could have enjoyed her for the full year.
Maddox's last day in middle school. Next stop: Mt View High School!
The last day of school was 10 weekdays past its original date. A long.....10.....extra......days.......
Daddy was ready with the camera to gauge how much these kids have grown.
My FAVE pic!!!
Here's a great pic of Daddy and the kids on Father's Day. We are all so lucky to have such an amazing man caring for and spoiling us
Here's a pic of me, my sis and my dad. This is another amazing man in my life that has passed down such positive life lessons to me.
This is what Maddox has been up to since school ended.
S'mores Frappucinos to celebrate the last day of school!
Presley and I got a visit from my coaching partner co-worker and her brand new puppy, Cash! Presley loved playing with him and it certainly made me want a sweet puppy of my very own. Then I remember: way too much work!
That face, tho
Presley and Katie have had such a wonderful relationship. Katie sees Presley more at my school than I do. She was so gracious letting Presley assume the Dance Mascot position and spoils her way more than I do. In fact, one of the main reasons for this visit was Katie dropping off a year-end treat bag for Presley. She's the best!
Me and a wonderful like-minded friend finally got to meet at a restaurant to catch up and plan out our summer activities with the kids. All we need now is the sun to show up!
That's about it for June. We're hopeful that July will bring a few more liberties that moves us toward getting our lives back to normal.
