May 2021 found the Rakoz Family completely submerged in 4 different sports seasons and it felt closer to normal (for us, anyway) than we've been in a year! Proof is in the calendar below:
At one of Dylan's baseball games, he discovered the opposing pitcher was one of his school and basketball friends that recently moved out of the district. Reunited!
Here's a fun pic of Dylan's relay team receiving an inspirational speech from Principal Brown (also my boss, also his teammate's father). It worked because this relay team went undefeated for the entire regular season
Dylan struggled in the long jump early this Track season which earned him the nickname "Scratch," because he wasn't able to earn a legitimate score until the 3rd meet. One of my co-workers was in charge of this event during home meets and sent me this text.
Here's another pic of the 7th grade boys 4x100m relay team: Trey, Nolan (alt), Dylan, Dom & Kellen
After working his way through muscle aches, Dylan earned his way to Districts (more on that topic next month)
Dylan also spent a lot of time playing baseball this month. Here is a pic of him during Sports Day at school
Fave coach & player
Presley also participated in Track, but her 'season' was only 1 week long. After practicing Monday through Friday, she got to demonstrate her skills at the Elementary District Track Meet one Saturday. Daddy and I were quite unprepared for how Presley performed that day
This girl was on fire! I only have videos of her amazing performances (& these videos are still not playable on the blog), but here's how she did:
standing long jump: 2nd place
200m dash: 1st place
100m hurdles: 1st place
100m dash: 1st place
The fact that she was limited to only 4 events at the Meet was probably the only thing that stopped her from getting more blue ribbons! We can't wait to see how far she'll go next season
Last, but certainly not least, Maddox's basketball season ended this month. As time went on he earned more and more playing time. I enjoyed watching him not only play a sport he loves, but get involved in his new school
Speaking of Maddox, one random day I received this forwarded text with some very unexpected, yet fantastic news:
The excitement subsided a bit when we learned the prize only allows for 1 free single-serve bundlet per month, but it's better than nothing.
Memorial Day weekend brought some very warm weather, an extra day off and NO sport obligations which made for a perfectly relaxing 4 days. The Rakoz's celebrated with a homemade Happy Hour on the deck.
Grapefruit Moscow Mules for me and Daddy
Virgin Strawberry Margs for the kids
After months of me almost begging, Daddy FINALLY showed Dylan how to properly shave his super unattractive moustache. He looks so much better now!
Dylan picked bowling at Round1 (a new family entertainment venue) for our monthly Hangtime. We had a blast competing against each other at video games, yet supporting each other through gutterballs. I loved how he high-fived me every single time I threw the ball. What a sweetheart!
Anyway, this was a crazy month which I cherished (especially after last May!). All the extra car trips, laundry loads, sweat, and pain was so worth it. Check back next month for highlights which will include the middle school District Track Meet, Father's Day and end of the school year. Ciao!
