September 2021

Happy September everyone!  We started out the month knee-deep in school & sports activities.

Dylan's 1st Track Meet was highly anticipated and highly disappointing.  After Dylan's very 1st event, high jump, he cleared the bar, landed on the mat with a locked IT band on his knee and was out for the day.  Here he is wiping his tears and supporting his teammates. He eventually joined me on the sidelines in a wheelchair for the rest of the meet.  While he jumped to conclusions of eventual surgery and mourned all the sports of the year, he was walking and back at practice 5 days later.

Presley found herself with a stuffy nose on Day 3 of school so we kept her home out of precaution during this pandemic.  Her school quickly drew the conclusion she had a raging case of COVID and notified us that she couldn't come back to school for 14 days.  After a few trips around town looking for a testing kit and a NEGATIVE result later, I sent a curt email back to her school with evidence showing she was cleared to attend the very next day.

Here's a pic of me and my sweet friend Michelle at church.  Love this girl!

Here's a pic of Maddox at tennis practice.  Due to a few circumstances, his practices are 20 minutes away and held from 6:45pm - 8pm.  As the days grow shorter, he is playing under the lights more and more.  You can't see in this pic, but that's a nice smile on his face.  He appears to really enjoy playing and I think this sport absolutely suits him.

On one of our crazy activity filled afternoons, Maddox had to come to Dylan's meet after one of his matches.  We had barely sat down in the bleachers when we were asked to help time runners at the finish line.  This was an exceptionally long meet, but I appreciate him helping pass the time.

Presley had an opportunity to spend the day celebrating her BFF's birthday at the Enchanted Forest.  She had a blast!

This year a lot of our friends will be celebrating their 50 birthday.  We had fun at Ryan's surprise 50th one Saturday night.  How are we this old???

This match Maddox got to play singles. His partners vary from match to match, but he typically plays 1st JV doubles

Sadly, he missed a week and a half of Tennis and school due to being identified as a close contact from team photos.  Apparently 3 students from the tennis team got COVID (brothers) and team photos were earlier that week.  Because Maddox isn't vaccinated, he needed to take this test & quarantine for 7 days.

He spent some of his time baking.  He dropped some goodies off for Grandma as a "thank you" for driving him to school one morning he had missed the bus the week before.

Here's an appointment confirmation for Maddox to get a molecular COVID test.  When Teague showed up for Maddox's test, there was a handwritten sign stating the testing site was closed.  Huh????  Why would they confirm an appointment they couldn't honor?  Maddox ended up quarantining for 10 days and is back in class and on the courts.  When will all this madness end???

Here's a look at all the gear it takes to get myself, Dylan and Presley through a standard day filled with Softball, Baseball and Track.  It takes all hands on deck to get this to and from the car!

Midway through the Track season, Dylan decided to try discus.

Presley is enjoying softball.....at least she did until a COVID case shut-down all practices and games for 2 full weeks.

This is how we pass the time waiting to watch Dylan's events

Dylan has been running on the relay team which really speaks to his competitive personality. Here he is practicing with his relay team

Here are some pics of Presley in her class posted by her teacher.

This was created on top of my hot cocoa at a 'coffee' date with Presley.  It looks just like us!

When the rain finally hit this season, Dylan got absolutely drenched at practice.  I couldn't stop giggling.

Here are a couple of "Where's Dylan?" photos posted on social media showing his class honoring the heroes of 9/11

Here's a precious pic of Diesel, which Maddox usually sends me each day. These sweet kitties turned 4 this month.

That is September 2021 at a glance.  Until next month.....
