April 2023

Welcome back!  We were busy the month of April as vacations came and went and sports schedules went into overdrive.  Here's what we were up to.

Amber and I planned a short trip down to Texas where we saw some historical features, ate at some amazing venues and toured the most adorable destination.

Saturday, April 1st we departed for Dallas.

Ryan had researched some food places to try and we couldn't wait to dig in. This pizza chain is called Cane Russo where they bake pizzas at 900 degrees for 90 seconds.

But first: appetizers of brussel sprouts with bacon, goat cheese and almonds and 'fried nugz' which were deep fried mozzarella balls.

The food (and drinks) here were absolutely amazing.

After dinner we went on a haunted walking tour of Dallas.  Downtown has some gorgeous buildings.

The next day we toured the JFK Museum at the sight of his assassination.  A very humbling experience.

This is the exact location of the shooter.

Later on we treated ourselves to a fancy Italian dinner.  Although it does look like they misspelled 'Rakoz'

Extremely early the next morning we hit the road for a 90-minute drive over to Waco for breakfast at Magnolia Table.

Joanna's homemade biscuits with strawberry butter.

A short drive away was the point of our entire trip: Magnolia Silos!!! No detail was spared on this fabulous campus and we could not get over how much we adored everything we saw.

It was 91 degrees during our visit.  I was in absolute Heaven!!!

Souvenirs

We feasted at the on-site food trucks where I ordered this scrumptious grilled cheese filled with gruyere, pesto and bacon.  I could never explain just how happy this sandwich made me.

Just a short 10-minute drive was Baylor University

In-n-Out for dinner was the final stop on our venture.  We both absolutely fell in love with Texas!!!

Within hours of stepping off the plane, I quickly unpacked, re-packed, ate a cupcake, then loaded up the car for Lincoln City.  Although the weather was not as warm as Texas, it was mild and had zero wind.

Then all of the sudden, Spring Break was over.  Luckily we have softball, baseball and cheer (not pictured) to keep us all ridiculously busy.

As a double header was coming to a close one night, Dylan got snagged to help out Varsity finish out the final 2 innings of their game.  Can you spot him amongst the giants?

Mt View Thunder's JV team ended their season on a high note with Dylan blasting a double and bringing in the final 2 runs of the game.  Great season Buddy!

Teague and I joined Ryan and Amber at a fancy wine tasting party where we sampled some different pours.  We're not quite wine converts yet, but we didn't mind the free event one little bit.

That brings us to the end of the month.  Thanks for reading and see you in May!
