Happy October! This month was full of surprises.....some better than others. Here's what we were up to.
For the last time, Dylan & I volunteered some service hours at a CCYF Tournament. He hung out with his teammates in the announcer's booth and I handed out snacks
We chose to honor our special day with cocktails at a local Tiki Bar and smashburgers at Irrelevant
The drinks here were crazy strong!
Although Dylan was still working through some neck issues and not yet cleared to play, we joined him for Senior Night
Our beloved Crossroads Community Church celebrated its 50th Anniversary. I love my Church and am so grateful for everything and everyone it's brought to my life
Our extended family is getting closer to welcoming Baby Boy Fairclough to the world. Auntie Rhacelle threw the most amazing baby shower.
Wednesday, October 8 was a very sad day. While Teague, Presley and I were walking to the car after a softball game, we were called by Dylan's football coach letting us know that he had collided with someone on the field and hurt his ankle. Teague headed over to pick Dylan up from practice and an appointment was made for the following morning @ Urgent Care
After an x-ray, it was determined that Dylan had avulsion fractures on both sides of his ankle and would need to see a Sports Medicine doctor the following day. An avulsion fracture occurs when the ligaments are torn so forcefully that they pull fragments of the bone along with it
After the doctor reviewed Dylan's scans & ankle, he let us know that Dylan tore 2 out of 3 ligaments on the outside of his ankle and 'a bunch' of ligaments on the inside of his ankle. This will take about 1 year to get back to normal. Dylan will never play football for Mt View ever again. Did I mention the person he collided with was one of the coaches that was fully padded up and practicing with the team??? Mama's NOT HAPPY
The doctor and Dylan decided that a permanent cast is in order for the next 3 weeks. With this cast and boot, he could walk on it when he felt comfortable and would not need crutches going forward
My heart is absolutely broken over yet another sports-ending injury. In true Dylan-fashion, he continued to attend games and practices and help out when he could.
My job at Union has given me some great new co-workers. However, these 3 are all people Teague went to high school with back in the day. This particular day at work was "Throwback Thursday" and I loved seeing my Union Titan co-workers representing Mt View Thunder gear.
Sometimes Presley sends me pics during her lunch. I love seeing the beloved faces of my former cheerleaders!
We have known this young man since the womb. He has signed on with the US Navy and will be shipping out in a few weeks.
Presley, Auntie Michele and I headed down to Monmouth for the day to celebrate Homecoming at Western Oregon University with Kaitlyn and a college bestie, Julia.
After several unsuccessful attempts to locate, Presley and I finally found the smashburgers table to keep us fed for the 2nd half of the football game.
Victory!
We continued our tradition by hitting Yeasty Beasty before heading out of town
Such a beautiful campus in the fall. I have such wonderful memories of this place.
I came home from work one afternoon to find this touching bouquet from Presley. Mt View's Floral class was passing out bouquets to gift others on Petal it Forward Day
Presley has been very busy in her Baking and Cooking classes. Here's a pic I texted her to show how much I was enjoying her homemade mac n' cheese
Presley was invited to a Sunday evening group event through her Church. I love seeing youth getting together in His name
The last football team film session of the year also included a pancake and bacon breakfast prepared by some team parents. Wanna take a guess as to who may have put in an early request for Mickey Mouse pancakes?
Presley started attending Open Gyms to prepare for Club Volleyball tryouts next monthOh happy day! After 3 weeks someone finally got his cast off!
Yes, this smelled super awesome
Looks better, but still a bit swollen. Now the physical therapy begins
It was my honor to judge Cheer tryouts for my former squad. What made me even happier? Judging alongside one of my fave cheerleaders ever!
After the game we celebrated the birthday boy with gifts and espresso brownies.

This milestone birthday happened the last day of the month
Originally the school calendar showed that Halloween, October 31st was a day off from school/work; however, the strike from September altered plans and Dylan had to attend school on his birthday one last time.
It was also his last football game of his high school career. Sadly, the weather was rainy and crappy. Here's a pic of his last Captain Walk-Out for the coin toss.
Maddox stayed home from the game and passed out candy for the Trick or Treaters. He received many "Happy Birthday" wishes (hilarious)
I love this boy man! He's such a sweetheart to me and brightens my day. While this last year has brough up a few more conflicts/arguments between us as he enters adulthood, I'm so proud of him and love the time we share together.
One bit of good news I did not get a photo of was Maddox getting a raise at work! A few months ago he switched his shift to early morning. Now he starts work @ 4am and he seems to be enjoying it (or likes it better than the late shift). I think he likes his supervisor and a few people over there. I know he LOVES seeing new product drops. My favorite part about the switch is that I see him way more than I did when he had the later shift.
Whew! It is bad to say I'm kinda glad to see October in the rear view? Not that it means I'm at all ready for the holiday season.
Coming next month:
*Presley's Club Volleyball Tryouts
*Teague's busy season (fingers crossed)
*Maddox's super super busy season @ Target
*Various Friendsgiving events
*Birthday and Farewell celebrations
Let's just hope I remember to capture photos of it all. 'Til then!
