FEBRUARY 2026

Welcome! Here's what we were up to this month (except for Maddox who refuses to be photographed).

Sometimes Grandma, Auntie Rhacelle or Briar will pass along previously loved clothes to us. Here's a pic showing our appreciation for our new threads

Although Presley got her Varsity letter months ago, I wanted to have a photo of her holding it. A pretty impressive achievement! I have the exact same pic from when I lettered as a freshman.

Dylan and a group of his football & baseball buddies made a point to attend all the Mt View Varsity Boys Basketball games this season. At this particular game, some of the ASB students created their own 'ESPN' commentary table. Dylan is the kid staring at his phone in the grandpa outfit

The Seattle Seahawks won this year's Superbowl. Even the Titan, my school's mascot, was rooting for them.

During a Team Bonding event for my cheer squad, I was helping with set up in the school's Team Room. I looked up on the wall and noticed that not only was there a poster featuring one of my awesomely sporty kids (Dylan leading the pack in the front).......

but there were 2 posters featuring my awesomely sporty kids. What's better than a Bad Ass Rakoz on a poster? The obvious answer is Two Bad Ass Rakoz's on a poster. I really want these when they are taken down!

My Cheer Squad hosted a Youth Clinic as a fundraiser. We had over 30 kids and made over $1,500

Unfortunately for my sweet kittens, February marked the annual trip to the vet. These cats typically cannot stand each other....until they are forced into a carrier and subject to an exam with shots. During those times they can barely be separated.

Although it may be hard to tell, these cats are literally wrapped around each other

Remember our cute nephew Myles? We got to spend an afternoon with him. He is smiling and curious and I cherished every second when it was my turn to hold him

Our Varsity Boys Basketball team made it to the State Tournament this year! This meant Dylan and his crew had some long road trips up north, which he was all too happy to make.

Presley had a Volleyball tournament in Springfield, Oregon and we hit the road the day before for a little getaway.

At the tournament, we noticed Aliya was playing in the tournament as well. Presley and Aliya were besties during their little league softball days. The last game she played was against Aliya's team.

Luckily Presley's team was the victor.

The Mt View Senior Boosters organized a Dining Fundraiser at McMenamins and we were all too happy to participate.

We saw a lot of staff and alumni at the event as well.

One of Presley's new elective classes this semester is Floral Design. Friday's are my favorite because she brings home a bunch of arrangements for us.

At the end of the month I retired (again!) as a cheer coach. Although I have some good memories of my short time coaching at Mt View, it was evident that my priorities and time do not align with that of a high school head coach any longer. I hope the program feels empowered by some of the protocols I put in place and have a wonderful time in cheer going forward.

That's it for February. Stay tuned for next month where spring sports begin!
