Hello! Here's a look at what the Rakoz fam was up to in February 2022.
Presley and I supporting the mighty Eagle Basketball teams
We were joined by most of the Beardmores at this particular basketball game when my school played Wy'east. Chase was playing in this match-up and it was nice to watch with an ol' fellow basketball parent from years ago. This game went into overtime, but the Eagles emerged victorious.
Wordle is trending these days....mostly on Facebook. Loving word puzzles, I'm kicking butt at this, of course.
This is the best pic I could get from Dylan of the basketball team. Since he's not a playing member of the team, I opted out of purchasing the team pic and will settle for the yearbook photo
I've been rearranging my workspace and my homage to The Office brings me great joy each day. I'm grateful for co-workers that not only tolerate my hobby, but support and indulge it as well.
February was filled with lots of dance practices and competitions. My dance team struggled to place/win more than years past, but we all enjoyed the experience and community the competitions provide.
During the many (many...many....many) basketball games we watched this season, we saw some familiar refs from the community. This gentlemen has always reminded me of my Uncle Bob and he kept the calls pretty fair.
These two had some milestone birthdays this year. Kaitlyn turned 16 and Dad/Grandpa turned 80 years young. We celebrated with pizza, cake and family.
One school event I was surprised with was this flower from my sweet co-worker. It was delivered to me as an expression of friendship and it reminded me how grateful I am to work with such fun and caring people.
Here's a pic of Presley with one of my dancers that she enjoys hanging with. Future dance teammates?
Presley had an Orchestra performance this month with the goal of encouraging students to continue playing their instruments throughout middle school and high school. We enjoyed pieces from the 5th grade students at 4 schools, the 6th grade orchestra, and the highest high school orchestra. It was inspiring when the conductor asked the high school musicians to raise their hand if they had started playing from 5th grade and at least 90% raised their hands.
Here's a pic from our 'Snow Day' traditional walk to Starbucks. Although the snow/ice was gone by 10:30am, everyone was on board to make the trek for a treat.
When we got home, me and the kids played card games without fighting.....until the end. It may have been the longest record of spending time together without fighting they have had in years and years.
Here's a pic of my Lyrical team before their last performance of the season.
Here's one of my 6th grade dancers posing with her sister who was also one of my dancers 2 years ago
This is another 6th grader showing how bored we are while waiting for the competition results.
And on our last competition, we FINALLY secured a 1st place victory for Hip Hop! I was incredibly happy to send off our 8th graders with a win.
Of course our mascot is always trying to get in on the action. Let's hope the next dance trophy she holds is one she helped win herself.
Not pictured: Maddox is now taking a class called Culinary Essentials and has prepared a mug cake, biscuits, and salsa. Sadly he has only prepared the biscuits for us, but they were fabulous.
That's it for February! See ya next month.
