Happy April and welcome back to the Rakoz Blog! Here are some highlights of what we did this month.
April began with Spring Break and we headed out to Lincoln City for some much deserved R & R. On this trip we took a few mini road trips to Depot Bay and Newport and the kids actually opted to come along on the adventures instead of their usual 'watch TV & play video games' activity. It felt like an actual family vacation!
The hot tub is always one of our favorite parts of vacation
One of his fave hobbies
This photo was taken from my bedroom window (at the Coast). How many deers can you spot?
While we all were prepared to head back to school after Spring Break, God had other plans and blessed us with a snow day on April 11th. We got at least 4 inches.
Of course we had to continue our Starbucks tradition.
I run a small March Madness pool at work for College Basketball. Even though I didn't place, the winning bracket went to one of Dylan's teachers, Mrs. Morningstar. The cool part is that Dylan actually filled out her bracket for her, so Dylan was the true winner here.
Me and my girl
Softball season is underway and Presley is doing great! She did her 1st tournament at the end of the month where her team finished 4th out of 12 teams. Not too shabby! She also pitched an entire game herself throwing numerous strikeouts. She got a few outs playing 1st base and hit a nice double on offense.
Presley, Daddy and I snuck away for breakfast one Sunday and found ourselves at Syrup Trap. So good!
Football season has also begun. Sadly Dylan continues to be sidelined while waiting for his knee to recover, but he's practicing with the team (#84 in the middle) and helping out as manager.
Did I mention I'm coaching Cheer again? I got the job starting with this Spring season and my squad is covering Football, Girls Cross Country and Girls Basketball. Here's a pic of our 1st football game. I'm having such a fun time.
Dylan was not in attendance at this first game due to (a false positive???) COVID. Out of the 6 tests he was given, he tested positive once (Test #2 out of 6 total tests) which earned him 6 days of quarantining at home. Luckily a headache was the only symptom he had.
Presley had joined the Choir at her school and performed with other elementary schools as well as 2 middle schools and the high school in one big concert. It was very enjoyable. Doesn't she look beautiful?
That's it for April! Tune in next month for all things sports and spring as make our way toward the end of the school year. Ciao!
