June 2022

This month was filled with end-of-season celebrations and school wrap-up events.  It was a whirlwind month and went by so quickly which is what I want in the weeks leading up to summer break.

My Spring Cheer coaching season came to an end with a super fun pizza/dance party.  We said 'goodbye' to some really great 8th graders and it was touching to see how close this team was by the end.  Aren't they the cutest??!!

There was an 8th grade Breakfast for students that earned a 3.5 GPA or higher at progress report time.  It was also the event to announce other awards for students that stood out for academic or athletic achievements as well as Citizen of the Year.  I couldn't have been more proud to watch Dylan win the prestigious Ryan Greenen Most Inspirational Athlete of the Year Award. This award is given to 1 student each year that has triumphed over adversity. It was amazing to see his teachers and other staff members recognize his positive attitude this year while he had to sit out during both basketball and football seasons and encourage his friends from the sidelines.  This award was such a big deal!

There was a very nice speech given by Principal Brown. I can tell Dylan was keeping his emotion in check during the announcement.

Absolutely well earned!

Presley competed in her last elementary Track Meet.  She got 1st place in running long jump and tug-of-war.  She got 2nd place in shotput and 200m dash.  We were incredibly proud of her!

It has been several years since we convinced Daddy to join us at the movies, but "Top Gun Maverick" was much anticipated and enjoyed thoroughly.

Presley's softball season came to a close with an undefeated season!  It was an amazing experience and she really loved playing with these girls.

Here's a fun pic at their end-of-the-season pizza party.

Presley was voted to the All Star Minors Softball team which will begin in mid-July.  Her practices have increased to almost daily and she often stays after to work on pitching and batting.  I really hope they can stretch out their season and make it to the state tournament.

So fierce!

I threw a Bridal Dinner for a friend. Although the legal wedding was last November, she and her husband wanted a social ceremony with their family.

Presley joined her friend at the school carnival and came back with this awesome tattoo.  She seemed to have a good time.

I get up @ 5am each morning for a run.  This particular day I saw 2 raccoons heading down the sidewalk as well.  Can you spot them?

Today was a day I’ve been excited for since Dylan started middle school: 8th Grade Trip to Bullwinkles! I finagled my way as a chaperone so I got to go too. Sadly, I didn’t see Dylan at all, but he got to enjoy the mini golf, arcade, unlimited pizza & soda buffet, go karts, obstacle course, bowling and who knows what else. I even got him to video me on the zip line with his fave teacher, Mrs Youngblood. We got to ride down in fancy coach buses and had such an amazing time with his classmates. I’m so happy he got to have one last celebration before he separates from his friends that will be going to Union High School next year. I’m even more happy that I got to go as well!

Dylan is a Teacher's Aide for his football coach during 3rd period with the other 2 football managers.  This means these 3 mainly just walked around the school and visited me every day.  The girls started calling me Mama Rakoz and we all had a lot of fun together this term so I wanted to get a pic of "Mac n' Cheez" (their self-created nickname)

The last official celebration for Dylan was the 8th Grade BBQ.  After 4th period the students enjoyed a BBQ then free time outside.  Not surprisingly, Dylan spent the afternoon playing football with his friends.

Presley was enjoying her own 5th Grade Celebration that day as well.  The students spent a picnic lunch at the park playing games and enjoying free time.  Afterward they walked through the hallways of the school enjoying a "Clap Out" from the rest of the lower grade students and landed in the gym for an end of the year tribute video and commemorative photo booth.

Here she is with Mrs. Satterwhite, her teacher.  They had a wonderful relationship.

Here she is with Eleanor, one of her best friends.  These 2 spent the mornings at Shahala before walking to school together. Next year they should feel right at home.

Next year she will join me at Shahala Middle School.  Lord help us both!

After the last day of school, we all met up for my friend's wedding with the Beardmores.  We got to enjoy a fabulous pizza feast and hang with our favorite friends.

Sunday we had Grandpa over for Father's Day.

June 20th is a day this guy has been waiting FOREVER for.....he is officially cleared to play ALL sports with zero restrictions!  He jumped right in to Basketball Open Gym 2x per week and Football Weight Training 4x per week.  Someone has a lot of workouts to make up for!

I worked for another week after the last day of school wrapping up things before my summer break.  This year my office is getting re-carpted so I had to pack up my entire work area and desk before leaving for the summer.  It looks so weird!

This has never, nor will never look this clean again!

This is a pic of me and one of my friends and co-workers, Lisa, after a fun day of paddleboarding (me) and kayaking (her).  We wiped out all the calories we burned at one of my fave restaurants, Nuestra Mesa.  This is the first summer-y pleasure I've had so far and I hope to enjoy many more.

That's it for June!  Stay tuned next month where I hope to share news on the following topics:
*Presley's All Star District Tournament
*Dylan's summer football and basketball workouts
*Maddox's 1st official job?
