October 2022

Happy October!  This month had a pretty busy beginning, then slowed down to a more reasonable schedule as fall sports came to a close.  Here are some highlights:

October 1st was Mountain View High School's Homecoming.  This first pic is the closest either of the boys got to attending the dance....Dylan photobombing Cooper on the Kiss Cam.

Teague and I celebrated Amber's birthday with a whisky tasting....not my jam, but I delighted in some limoncello drops instead.

Cocktail evenings at the Beardmores usually involves a charcuterie board....always a good time.

Here's my girl at the last home meet of the season.

I have 2 students that visit me everyday before school, during lunch and after school.  I was at an offsite meeting one day and the girls did not take my absence well at all.  This is what I came back to the next morning.

FINALLY!  After putting off testing for months, Maddox finally earned his driver's license. I put him to work right away and had him pick up Presley from Track and drive himself to Tennis practice while I enjoyed Dylan's football game within an hour of having the license in his hand. He was definitely up to the task.

It was a good thing I sent Maddox off to practice and stayed at Dylan's game, because it ended up being his best game of the season!  Auntie Rhacelle joined us at the only win the freshman team would have this year.  In one play of the game, Dylan snatched the ball from the offense and ran 60yds for a touchdown.  We went wild!  The smile on his face was priceless.  We were all so proud. Click the link to see the action.

Naturally, the boys look for any excuse to drive around and eat fast food.  Maddox offered to pick up Dylan from a Varsity game which apparently includes a Taco Bell snack before coming home.

Who made it to Districts for the 4x200m relay?

And her team got 1st place!  District Champion in Track.....how do you top that??!!

The kids have had the absolute BEST weather for their sports season.  Maddox had an amazing 12-3 record in Tennis this year. I only hope he continues to enjoy playing for many years to come.

This pic below was a fantastic ace serve.

Proud tennis mom

Presley decided to try out for Cheer at the last minute.  It's a good thing, because she wowed my judges, getting the 6th highest score out of 26 students.  As a 6th grader!  So excited for the season.

This is a random, but sweet pic of Diesel hunting down a stink bug.  So focused.

Living her best life.

Presley also tried out for the Dance team this year.

While everyone made the Hip Hop Crew, Presley tried out for the elite Lyrical team as well.  Once again, the judges unanimously added her to the Lyrical Company.

Dylan's football season was cut short by 1 game due to a concussion he got from the previous game.  He still gets to film the Varsity games which earns him a spot on road trips.  His trip to Richland was taken on a coach bus which was a much better upgrade than the school busses, but Teague and I are so over this 'pick up @ 2am' business.

This cutie turned 15 this month!  I dropped off a surprise lunch of Chick-Fil-A at the school office and we enjoyed a pizza dinner before he and Chase headed out trick-or-treating.  And I just now realized I didn't get a pic of them in their costumes :(    He wore the same costume as last year...a raccoon.  #momfail

Maddox's birthday gift was a brownie from Starbucks on one of their bro road trips.

One thing Dylan had asked for were Air Jordan hi-tops in Mt View colors.  We couldn't find anything close so I chose the Nike by You option and created some shoes from scratch complete with his name on the strap  I'm so happy with how they turned out and hope he likes them even half as much as I do.

Yechelle (inside joke) and Mia joined Presley and I for trick-or-treating this year.  It rained the entire time we were out, but the girls got so much loot!

Meredith Grey and Frida

Coraline and Duck even charmed some candy out of Michael Myers.

Maddox stayed home and ate passed out candy, which is usually his preference.

That is October in a nutshell.  November dives right in to Cheer practices, Dance practices, and maybe a part-time job & car......?  Stay tuned!
